There’a a lot of visions of the future expressed in books and films in which there is a dystopian future with a blighted environment, over crowded cities all ruled by mega-corporations. Think Blade Runner, or Ready Player One. The bracing fact about all this is that we can see elements of this dystopian imagining of the future in our current reality.
There’s an alternative. In his article Pat Riley speaks about Solarpunk which seeks to answer and embody the question “what does a sustainable civilization look like, and how can we get there?”
Like Riley, we believe that “if we can manifest more visions of the future based not in what we are afraid of, but in what we are hopeful for, we’ll be surprised with what we accomplish and who we can inspire.”
